World Art Camp

Classical Japanese art forms such as brush painting, ikebana, and kirigami will be explored alongside more contemporary art forms such as anime, magna, and kyuuto style characters. Campers will be introduced to new projects along with old favorites while enjoying one of our most popular world art themed weeks!

This has been one of our most beloved summer camps, and we are bringing it back by popular demand from our young artists! Campers will enjoy creating drawings and prints based on such beautifully intricate art forms as kolam, pooklam, henna tatooing and mithila murals. We will also learn the origin of imagery found in many aspects of Indian art by reading the Ramayana, the celebrated story of Rama and Sita.

Drawing is the basis of most art making and painiting is a natural, but unique extension of this skill. Campers will learn to use a variety of drawing and painting mediums as they sped their days expanding their experience and love of these essential and capitivating expressions of art making.

Campers will experience a variety of printmaking techniques including hand-cut silk screen designs to create original images on fabric bags and t-shirts, carved rubber to create multiple reduction prints, monotype and itaglio printmaking. Campers will come away with an impressive collection of unique hand-printed images on a variety of paper media and fabric.

For campers 12 to 14 years

CITs do most, if not all of the art projects. They are responsible to prepare/clean-up snack, play games with the younger campers at lunch and breaks and help clean-up in general. There is space for six CITs per camp week. CITs often go on to becoming paid camp assistants once in high school. The cost for our CIT Program is $310 per week. Please contact us at to apply.
